Terrapin Mk1/6 - Built by Bob Swallow, sold on to Martin Haley, Richard Andrews then to Simon Tarling who after racing it for a number of years sold it in the early 90's. Location presently unknown but thought to be in the Manchester area after being seen on Ebay???
Terrapin Mk1/17 - Built by Peter Solman, this is the ex Brian Gates, Derek Sharman car, owned for many years by Geoff Leyland. Recently Leighton Hughes has bought the car and is completing the final phase of the restoration. Leighton is hoping to be out competing with the car in 2012.
Terrapin Mk1/31 - Built by Ken Williamson (C '74), sold to Geoff Roberts in '79, now owned by Graham Baker.
Terrapin Mk1/14 - Built by David Gould, then passing through John Corbyn, Graham Butcher, Dave Crocker and finally Brian Cottrell, sadly Brian's wife destroyed the car in a heavy accident at Weston super Mare speed trials around 1990. Dean Robertson (see 'Dick Terrapin' lower down the page) has the body moulds for this car, should anyone want any 'Gould' bodywork then I can put you in touch with him.
Terrapin Mk1A/21 - Owned by Ed Hollier (blue car), and featured on video page (was red!), previously owned by Les Connet and Crocker family believed to have been built by Brian Brown and Kevin Nolan.
Terrapin Mk4 - Steve Sharp, Eric Kitching. No further history known.
Terrapin Mk1A/39 - Chassis by Mike Jukes C. 1974/75, build completed by Mike Gerard, sold on to Don Powell in Sept '76. Whereabouts now unknown? Do you know?
Terrapin Mk1A/???? - Built by Martin Baugh, unknown chassis number but quite an early car. Subcequently sold to and raced by Andrew Turnock., the next known owner seems to be Stuart Nix, who used the car successfully then sold the car on. The next known owner was Chis Farr. The car was sold by Chris Farr to a garage owner in Gloucestershire called Piers (unknown surname), he then sold it to Peter Rigby via Ebay, who after starting the restoration has now sold it to Ron Champion, who intends to restore the car fully and keep a log of his progress which we hope to publish on the website.
Terrapin Mk1A/9 - Built by Graham Smith who then raced it under sponsorship from Whitbread in a team with John Crowson (owner of Mk1/13), sold to Alan Dignan of British Leyland PR, who unfortunately crashed the car, the damaged rolling chassis was sold to Brian Gates then to Iain Sword who repaired it and used the car in '79 before he crashed it at Blackpool in '80, no further info known and whereabouts now unknown??

Terrapin Mk7 - Built by Allan Staniforth, utilising 'rubberband' suspension and a hybrid Imp Engine Mini gearbox combination, currently owned by Douglas McLay.
Terrapin Mk1/KAJ - Built by Keith and Andy Johnson from the West Midlands, in the early 80's, then damaged at Prescott in '83 while being driven by Andy. The car was then sold to Dave Crocker who repaired it. The Crocker's sold the car again in the late 80's, to 2 men from Broughton in Furness called Ian and Melvin Tyson, they had the Black Cock pub there and owned 2 Terrapins, they sold the car to Matthew Weston who used it for several seasons, before storing it away? Chassis now scrapped, but engine g/box suspension and bodywork in the hands of Mike and Gwyn Jenkins (see own listing on this page).
Terrapin Mk1/20 - Built by John Frampton, developed extensively by Ian Tomlinson, and now owned by Phil Hallington. Currently in final stages of restoration.
Terrapin Mk1/? - Built by Mike Jukes in '71, owned and driven by Donald Brown from 1979, restored in the mid 90's by Jamie Hylton and sold to Derek Hampson in 99, sold to Richard Walker in 2009 then to George Cole of Grantham in late 2010.
Terrapin Mk2/BM - Raced by Brian McLuckie, unknown builder, Brian still has the car now, unused since the early 80's, in need of some repair, but complete. Chassis has flat sides and tubular bulkheads.
Terrapin Mk1/13 - Ex John Crowson car now owned by Nick Edginton.
Terrapin Mk5/GBT - Built by Brian Tannahill and Graham Thompson in around 1995/96, car is built to totally original Mk5 chassis design with A-series power, but with aluminium sidepods and bespoke bodywork to Brian's own design.
Terrapin Mk1/GT - Built by 2009 Northern Irish Hillclimb Champion Grham Thompson, sadly this car was destroyed during the build of his current 'GTR' car so is no longer in existance.

Terrapin Mk10F- So called because it was 10 inches longer than a mini engine car and ran a ford M.A.E and Hew land set up.The car was built in the early 70’s by John Aldred and his brother Denis who worked at the Chevron factory, the car has some very interesting parts on it from the ex peter gethin chevron b24. Currently being restored by Neil Haslem and Tim Beardsley at Amber racing.
Terrapin Mk1/52 - Chassis built by Bob Swallow, car completed by Mike Bainbridge. Sold in the early 90's to garage owner and well known Midland competitor Brian Robbins. Recently sold back to Mike Bainbridge, who intends to restore the car. Mike will update us with pictures of his progress.
Monopin - Built by Keith Gowers, with alloy monocoque chassis and Honda 750 supercharged engine, restored by Jamie Hylton, now owned by Bob Birch.
Terrapin M - Built by Fred Smith, completed in 1984 was Fred's second chassis and of monocoque construction and Imp engined, (the first chassis was regular spaceframe design) sold to Graham Baker, then Bob Birch, now owned by Chris and Rod Law who have installed a modern 600 m/cyc engine and modernised the bodywork. The car is driven by James Law. Car has since been sold on through sevral owners and is now up for sale again. I do not know the current owner however.
Terrapin Mk1/15 - Built by Bill Southworth, NSU powered, subsequently sold to Allan Staniforth then Tony Yeomens then to David Keer who sold it to a nightclub owner in Holland who hung it on the premises wall!! It was then put into storage (as pictured) with Herman Mulstege, who has now sold the car to a new owner in Germany. We would like to obtain details of the new owner if possible!
Terrapin Sphinx - Built by John Frampton, as an 'Evo' terrapin, subcequently owned and raced by Tim Painter and then David Keer and Roger Cock, Mick Smith bought it from the owner of MOFF MOTORS a Ford garage in Crewkerne Somerset then sold it to Nick Plankenhorn who used it for about 2 years sharing with Brian Davage, it lost it spilt 45 webers because they were worn out and the head was replaced. Nick sold the car to Jim White who lives in the southwest he sold it to a person in the Midlands and was last heard of in an auction in 2002. Whereabouts now, unknown?
Terrapin Mk1/40 - Chassis built by Allan Staniforth, but car completed by Richard Storey, sold on to Graham Easter, then Tim Cameron, Brian Sanders, Jack Massey, Richard Walker and now owned by Jason Coaker.
Terrapin Mk1/? - Previously owned and driven by Jack Airey and David Atherton . Now owned by Mike and Gwyn Jenkins, since 2000 and winning four class HSA championship prizes. Car runs a 1330 A-series engine. Builder of this car unknown, although believed to have been built in the Stockport area, before going to a second owner in the Sth Wales area, from whom Jack purchased it. Unsure if any chassis number allocated to it?
Terrapin Mk1/51 - Built by Jeremy Hawke in 1980, was sold to Jonspeed mini specialists (Nuneaton) in May 1990 and not seen since!....or do you know where it is???
Terrapin Mk1/23 - Graham Morris, Norman Webster, Mike Bainbridge (chassis only), sold on to unknown, last heard of stored in a house loft Nr Banbury Bucks.
Terrapin Mk1a/53 - Car built by Geoff Ainsworth, around 1985, given chassis number 53 by Allan, shown here being driven by Les Tomlinson at Harewood (red+yellow) sold on to Ian Scott, who fitted a bike engine and then sold it on to someone in Scotland.

Dean Robertson's - Mk1/45 'Dick Terrapin' with Kawasaki ZZR power. Developed from chassis 45 originally built by Richard Owen and Terry Mould who were Girling brake engineers. Car was then sold to John Barratt, and then to Dean. He scrapped the chassis and rebuilt his own as the chassis was in too poor condition to be servicable.
Terrapin Mk2/AA - Unknown chassis builder, but car had tubular bulkheads and flat sides. Earliest known owner was Richard Cleaver of Worcestershire (bottom pic), who used the car with A-series power during the late 80's sharing the car occasionally with Paul Bubb from Gloucs. In '91 it was then sold to renowned Terrapin driver Alan Aucote (via Jeremy Bouckly and Paul Matty) he obtained the car with the original methanol fuelled A-series, but soon, with the help of Steve Owen (of OMS racing cars) installed a Kawaski m/cyc engine and blasted his way to success after success on Midland Sprints and Hills. Car was sold in the mid 90's to a young man in Wales and not seen since.

Terrapin Mk1/18 - Built by Jan Waring in '71, sold to Darryl Seymour in '73 and owned since, fitted with BMC 1310 engine, and raced occasionally.
Terrapin Mk1/70 - Built by Stu Boreland, completed in '99, one of the more recent cars to be built and probably one of the last ones to be granted an official chassis number by Allan, car is powered by A-series engine, and raced regularly.
Terrapin Mk1/71 - Built by Donald Conway, completed around 2000. Powered by a 1330 A-series. Again probably one of the last cars registered with a chassis number.
Terrapin Mk1/72 - Built by Mark Elder recently, raced regularly, has a 1275 A-series engine fitted.

Terrapin Mk1/46 - Bought from the UK by Aldo Laferla, driven by David Anastasi, and more recently Johann Spiteri, with various A-series engines through it's lifetime. Car is at present unused, but is in 'ready to run' condition.
Terrapin Mk1/? - Built by Tony Vella, from no plans but using Aldo Laferla's car as a guide, wheelbase extended. Sold to Josh Anastasi, who unfortunately had a big crash in the car, writing it off.
